Problem Summary

The Sumsel-8 Power Plant requires a Reclaim Feeder Breaker Installation to streamline the coal flow from the stockpile to the main conveyor and break down large chunks into smaller sizes.

HBAP appointed PT Suprabakti Mandiri to install the McLanahan RFB unit, with the kick-off meeting and commencement of work on March 31, 2021. The RFB is designed to maintain a smooth coal flow and prevent blockages.

The challenge in this project was confirming that the RFB unit could operate optimally, including the readiness of the power plant’s infrastructure, such as the hopper and coal transportation system.

Project Execution

The project began with the engineering, fabrication, and the Reclaim Feeder Breaker installation, which was completed in June 2022. In July 2023, no-load and load tests were conducted, along with RFB-related training.

Upon successful testing, the Handover Certificate (BAST) – 1 was obtained, followed by a retention period and preventive maintenance by PT Suprabakti Mandiri for one year until October 31, 2024.

Cumulative processed coal reached 3,609,316 tons, with commissioning completed from August 2023 to October 2024.

Project Outcomes

PT Suprabakti Mandiri completed all punch list items related to the RFB unit installation by October 31, 2024, and obtained BAST – 2. The no-load and load commissioning awaited the readiness of the power plant, hopper, and coal transportation from the mine.

With the completion of Reclaim Feeder Breaker Installation, the Sumsel-8 Power Plant can enhance its operational capabilities and smooth fuel supply, supporting reliable, environmentally friendly, and sustainable energy in line with HBAP’s vision.
