ScoutDI
Manual inspections of indoor industrial facilities are often expensive, time-consuming, and pose safety hazards for workers. Indoor drones offer a compelling alternative, minimizing risks. However, choosing the right drone is necessary. An effective drone simplifies inspections, ensures accurate data collection, and facilitates seamless sharing of reports.
ScoutDI, a Norwegian drone company, developed a system specifically for confined spaces and indoor assets. This fully digitalized system eliminates the need for scaffolding or climbing. Suprabakti Mandiri utilizes the Scout 137 Drone System by ScoutDI to safely and efficiently inspect indoor industrial assets.
Scout 137 indoor inspection drone
Onboard 3D LiDAR keeps humans safe and provides better data
The Scout 137 Drone integrates a 3D LiDAR sensor, simplifying time mapping with sub-center precision. This sensor helps flight safety and stability as well as provides visual assistance to the pilot and precisely tags all inspection data collected during the flight.
No human entry and location-tagged data
The Scout 137 Drone uses its 3D LiDAR data to generate a 3D situation map within the Scout App. This map is displayed alongside the drone’s camera feed, granting intuitive panning, zooming, and rotation. Serving as a vital visual aid, it provides the pilot with precise spatial awareness, easing navigation and reducing stress during inspections.
Gimbal-stabilized 4K camera and powerful LEDs
The Scout 137 features a high-resolution 4K camera on a 2-axis gimbal, enabling ±90° tilting for capturing clear visuals of even difficult-to-reach areas like ceilings and ledges. Additionally, its powerful lighting rig with over 10,000 lumens and flexible controls ensures optimal image quality in any lighting condition.
Tether and Ground Station
Tethering the ground station provides power, control, and data.
The Scout 137 eliminates battery limitations with a tether system, unlocking unrestricted inspections. This durable, cut-resistant tether connects the drone to the ground station with carabiners, facilitating seamless control and live-streamed inspections. The tether can be rolled up and stowed away, with a current length of 40m.
The Scout Portal provides full inspection replay and live-streaming
The Scout Portal, a cloud-based platform, empowers users to manage, analyze, and report inspection data from various sensors (including visuals). It allows live inspection streaming from the Ground Station, promoting collaboration among on-site and off-site stakeholders.
Scout App & Controller
The pilot operates the drone via the Scout App and a controller
The connection chain follows a simple path:
Pilot -> controller and tablet/Scout App -> connection hub -> ground station -> tether -> drone.
Fully wired drone control
The controller and tablet connect via a hub to the ground station, which then relays control signals to the Scout 137 Drone through the tether. This wired setup minimizes signal interference and multipath distortion, giving precise drone control.
