Pulley Lagging
Pulley lagging refers to the bonding process of a rubber coating to the shell of a conveyor pulley. Pulley lagging enhances traction between the belt and the pulley, reducing the load and wear on the drive, belt, pulleys, bearings, and take-up systems. It regularly serves to extend the life of the pulley shell by giving it a replacement wearing surface.
Rubber lagging can be applied either in the workshop or on-site. Here are the main benefits of using lagged pulleys:
- Protects pulley drums against material abrasion and corrosion, extending their lifespan.
- Mitigates belt slippage by improving the coefficient of friction between the conveyor belt and the pulley.
- Enables a self-cleaning process on the pulley surface, avoiding any buildup of carried bulk material, water, snow, or ice.
In order to have an efficient and economical conveyor operation, selecting the right lagging pulley is important for system operation. Suprabakti supplies the most commonly used lagging pulleys from Rema Tiptop.
REMA TipTop Lagging
The pulley lagging material from Rema TipTop has excellent bonding strength due to each material containing a bonding layer that is not commonly used by other manufacturers. Rema TipTop has a variety of sizes and material types, providing many options that can be customized according to your needs
REMAGRIP
High-quality pulley lagging
REMAGRIP 60
REMAGRIP 60 is suitable for wet and dry applications and can be adopted generically as a lagging for drive pulleys for low to medium-loaded fabric belts. REMAGRIP 60 enables maximum wear resistance while simultaneously preventing material buildup.
REMAGRIP 65
REMAGRIP 65 is a versatile lagging for both drive and non-drive pulleys in wet and dry conditions. This lagging offers optimized abrasion resistance and prevents material buildup on medium-load and steel rope belts.
REMAGRIP 70
REMAGRIP 70 is an all-around lagging for driven pulleys on heavy-loaded fabric and steel cord belts in wet and dry conditions. It offers excellent abrasion resistance, deep grooving for handling large amounts of dirt, and ensures a long operating life.
REMALINE 65 – The smooth lagging for individual grooving
REMAGRIP 65 is intended for wet and dry applications and can be used as a lagging for both driven and non-driven pulleys for fabric and steel cord belts. The RUBBER CUT system can be executed to individually regroove the plain surface to ensure that it is specifically suited to the specific application.
REMAGRIP CP-X
REMAGRIP CP-X smooth surface ceramic tiles are highly effective, especially on non-drive pulleys like tail and snub pulleys, which experience significant wear.
REMAGRIP CK-X
The Rema TipTop REMAGRIP CK-X series offers premium-quality ceramic lagging designed for extreme operating conditions. Featuring vulcanized Al2O3 single-row knobs ceramic tiles on high-quality REMALINE-70 base rubber, this series includes a CN bonding layer for easy and durable attachment with REMA TIP TOP bonding systems.
The CK-X series ceramic lagging is available in three different thicknesses: 15mm CK-X, 20mm CK-X HD, and 25mm CK-X XHD. CK-X series ceramic lagging is also available in HOT AUTOCLAVE vulcanized.

Field Re-lagging in Conveyor Systems Maintenance
Field re-lagging has a role in conveyor systems maintenance, ensuring ongoing reliability in various industrial settings. This type of maintenance involves direct on-site replacement or repair of lagging material on conveyor pulleys, addressing issues like wear, damage, or degradation of the existing lagging material
Field re-lagging is frequently required due to the severe operating conditions and heavy-duty usage that conveyor systems commonly encounter. Pulley lagging material is vulnerable to degradation caused by friction, abrasion, and environmental exposure. The wear and tear caused by regular use can result in a loss of grip between the belt and pulley, leading to belt slippage, a drop in conveyor performance, and a rise in repair costs.
Field re-lagging typically starts with evaluating the condition of the existing lagging material and pinpointing areas that need repair or replacement. Afterward, specialized maintenance personnel or technicians proceed to remove the old or damaged lagging material from the pulley surface using tools and equipment suited to the task.
Suprabakti Re-lagging Service
Suprabakti Mandiri provides thorough field re-lagging services, carried out by our skilled and certified technicians. Our area of services includes the thorough process of removing old lagging and replacing it with new lagging, as well as addressing wear, corrosion, or degradation of the current lagging material.
Suprabakti relies on the Monti Blister Blaster double belt system as one of our tools during field re-lagging. This advanced device is necessary for roughening the surface of the conveyor pulleys in preparation for the application of new lagging material. The Monti BB is capable of producing steel cleanliness to meet SA2.5 standards, creating a surface profile of 85 microns, which optimizes new lagging material adhesion to the pulley.
Suprabakti Mandiri uses premium lagging materials from Rema TipTop in our field re-lagging operations. We offer Remaline and Remagrip lagging, renowned for their durability, resilience, and compatibility across diverse conveyor applications. Furthermore, we ensure a secure bonding between the lagging material and the pulley surface by using SC-2000 Remabond adhesive cement.
Suprabakti Mandiri’s field re-lagging services offer flexibility to address different levels of lagging replacement needs. Whether a partial or a complete re-lagging job, our experienced technicians are equipped to handle the task. Committed to quality, detail, and industry standards, we aim for optimal conveyor efficiency and minimal downtime.
