Transfer Point Solutions
Materials slipping from conveyors occur frequently. This happens when material leaks and spills past the discharge point and down the return conveyor from the carryback or transfer point which is attached to the belt. It can also appear as dust in the air that blows off and lands on buildings, machinery, and the ground.
Carryback falls beneath the conveyor, spillage falls sideways, and dust falls in any direction, including the systems and structures above the conveyor. If left uncontrolled, the fugitive material will continue to drain the conveyor’s efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
Materials loss from the conveyor system cost the plant in many ways, such as reduced operating efficiency, increased conveyor maintenance costs, lower plant safety, deprived employee morale, poor product quality, and increasing scrutiny from outside agencies.
Bulk material handling processes can operate securely, effectively, and cleanly with the appropriate structure and maintenance. Martin Engineering’s Transfer Point Products can assist in reducing equipment damage, fewer cleanups, and minimizing maintenance costs, improving overall plant safety by eliminating spills and airborne dust. Martin Engineering is more than just an equipment maker. The company focuses on enhancing transfer point efficiency.
The efficiency of a belt conveyor system can be measured by the quality of its transfer points. A good transfer point ought to have the following components:
Belt Support
In order to achieve a minimum spillage transfer point, it is necessary to stabilize the belt’s line of travel in the load zone with proper belt support. A belt support can avoid damage and excessive wear to the belt whilst also reducing drooping and absorbing the force of falling material. Furthermore, this reduces runaway dust and fugitive material, which puts serious risks to health and safety.

- Impact cradle LD
- Impact cradle MD
- Impact cradle HD
- Combination Cradle (Bar, Roller, and Roller Kits)
- etc
Belt Sealing
An effective sealing system at the belt edge is a crucial part of any transfer point meant to prevent spills and enhance efficiency in operations. Martin Engineering’s belt sealing solutions are skirting equipments that sit on the belt and self-adjust for a reliable seal without having regular maintenance. These tools are meant to prevent fugitive dust and fine particles from escaping the belt.
Martin Engineering’s line of Belt Sealing products:
- ApronSeal™ Single Skirting Standard-duty
- ApronSeal™ Single Skirting Heavy-duty
- ApronSeal™ Double Skirting Standard-duty
- ApronSeal™ Double Skirting Heavy-duty
- etc
Tail Pulley Protection
Martin Engineering’s tail protection products prevent material on the inside of the belt during the return from entering the tail pulley, preventing damage to the conveyor system. These products plow discharge material to the side of the belt for easy control and cleanup, available for both standard and reversing belts, with self-adjusting models.

- VPlow XHD
- VPlow HD
- Torsion VPlow Plus
- Diagonal Plow
