Conveyor Trackers Installation at PT Kideco Jaya Agung

Problem Summary
PT Kideko Jaya Agung faced significant belt mistracking issues in both the return and carry areas at the Conveyor Boom SR in the Tanah Merah Coal Terminal. The conveyor, with a belt width of 1400 mm and a belt speed of approximately 3 m/s, is used for transporting coal.
However, the belt edges often rubbed against the return idler bracket, which caused belt damage and increased the risk of material spillage in the skirtboard area.
Several factors contribute to this issue:
- Unsuitable belt tracker
- Excessive carryback accumulation
- Misaligned idlers
- Material buildup on rollers
These factors not only disrupted the operational process but also increased downtime due to the need for periodic repairs and cleaning.
Project Execution
To overcome this issue, PT Suprabakti Mandiri offered a solution by installing Tru-trac Dual Return and Tru-trac HD Taper Trough conveyor trackers. These two products are manufactured to correct misaligned belts, maintaining conveyor stability during operation automatically
The project began by installing four sets of Tru-trac systems, including Dual Return Trackers and HD Taper Trough Trackers. Before the installation, the team make sure the area was clean and all the necessary equipment was ready.
The two products were strategically installed near the bucket wheel and transfer chute to optimize the belt-centering effectiveness. Furthermore, the existing belt trackers were removed to prevent interference with the performance of the new system.
Inspection Results
After the installation of the Tru-trac conveyor trackers, the Conveyor Boom SR showed significant improvement. The belt is now centered and aligned (as shown in the image), with no excessive rubbing against the return idler bracket. Material spillage, which had been a major issue, was minimized.
Conveyor Trackers have enhanced the conveyor's operational efficiency, extended the belt's lifespan, and reduced maintenance frequency. The PT Kideco Jaya Agung team stated they are satisfied with the solution, which supports the mine's smooth operations.
