Quick Release Hook
Quick Release Hooks (QRH) are the basis for a fast, secure, and reliable anchor point for mooring lines. QRH guarantees fast and secure docking of vessels to quay and berths. QRH serving an alternative method for securing mooring ropes. These hooks stand as reliable anchoring points for ships’ mooring lines, designed to operate even in harsh marine environments.
A Quick Release Hook consists of hooks equipped with an opening mechanism, a capstan (assisting in pulling messenger lines attached to mooring ropes), a release mechanism, a communication box, and a control panel.
The main feature of a quick-release hook is its rapid disengagement capability. This is achievable through a mechanical release mechanism or a remote control system. QRH can facilitate safe and rapid mooring line release.
It is necessary for reliable operations, especially during emergencies or severe conditions. They can disengage a vessel’s mooring lines with minimal effort, even under full load conditions. Resetting the hook to its operative status requires simple steps. The QRH automated system, helps operations and asset protection, minimizing risks during incidents.
Prosertek
Suprabakti supplies QRH from Prosertek, a European marine equipment manufacturer based in Bilbao, Spain. Prosertek’s QRH systems ensure the safe, quick, and easy release of mooring lines, even under maximum load conditions.
Quick Release Hooks (QRH) are highly recommended by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and the Society of International Gas Tankers and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) due to their benefits.
Prosertek’s QRH protects personnel and infrastructure by ensuring safe mooring line release and is designed to withstand harsh marine environments. QRH offers simple remote and manual release options. It has flexible movement in both horizontal and vertical directions. Additionally, this equipment is easy to install and maintain and can incorporate mooring load monitoring.
Mooring Operating Ranges
Prosertek Quick Release Hooks are built to handle loads from 50kN to 200kN SWL per hook. Come in standard configurations of single, double, triple, and quadruple hooks.

Materials
Prosertek guarantees high-quality QRH through strict material selection and quality control. The hook, swivel joint, and holding lever are made from cast steel, while the base and structural components use rolled steel. Shafts are crafted from machined, heat-treated round steel for optimal performance
Capstan
Capstan, made of cast aluminum, aids in pulling messenger lines attached to mooring ropes. It includes a gear-motor/capstan drum assembly and a protected gear-motor unit housed in an accessible casing for maintenance.
The foot switch enables hands-free control of the messenger rope, with additional safety features like an emergency stop button and a rotation direction selector. Integrated into QRH systems, it can also function independently or as a support unit for various mooring systems.
